About EDEN Join EDEN Members Disorders Friends & Family

Alice Grisham, Kathryn Fant and Kim Wiza, founders of EDEN, developed these programs in 1995 as a result of their own personal battles with serious eating disorders and with the belief that access to positive, community-based programs could have accelerated their own recoveries.

The organization began with a vision to help women attain more timely and complete recovery from eating disorders. EDEN was specifically designed by and for individuals seeking support and freedom from their eating disorder behaviors.

Utilizing backgrounds in health behavior change, social work, and business, the founders expanded the reach of the organization. After years of offering support and referrals to just one community, EDEN now offers curriculua for group recovery programs through partners and professionals around the country, and administers a theoretically-based peer support program locally or via phone.

The Peer Support Program is based on Prochaska's Trantheoretical Behavioral Change Model. We help participants assess where they are in the five stages of change, then help them create a plan and support their progression through the stages toward recovery.
